Richard Pruitt

RICHARD PRUITT

RICHARD PRUITT (Monsignor O'Hara) was born in Southern Indiana before the dawn of recorded history. He graduated from Jeffersonville (Indiana) High School and Indiana University. By education, he was intended to be an English teacher. By pure chance, he found himself an actor. Richard first acted professionally in 1970 and joined Actors Equity in 1974. He has appeared in about 140 productions all together, and Sister Act is, approximately, his 100th Equity contract. He appeared in the movies Steel, Frankie And Johnny, Freejack and many others. On television he's been seen in Boardwalk Empire, New York News, Rescue 911, and others. He has also appeared in a dozen or so national television commercials. On Broadway, Richard was in On The Waterfront, which ran only one week, and 42nd Street, which kept him employed for over three years. Off-Broadway he appeared in Wicked Philanthropy, which was the first English-language production of a French Restoration comedy by Denis Diderot, and in Bat Boy The Musical, in which he was an original cast member and is heard on the cast album. For 6 years he appeared in the holiday perennial, Irving Berlin's White Christmas, two of those years being national tours. Most recently he appeared in the Encores! production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Pipe Dream, the first sanctioned performance of this piece since its Broadway run ended in 1956. He can be heard on the cast album. Richard can also be heard as a Russian gangster in the videogame, Grand Theft Auto IV. This job was a particular delight to his two sons. Speaking of those sons...Cody is 25 years old, a graduate of NYU, and co-owner of The Bespoke Group, a New York City nightlife entertainment company. Jesse is 21, a Dean's List student and 2013 graduate of The University of Virginia as a Religious Studies major. Richard lives in New York City and is divorced. Twice-divorced, if you must know.
